The global semiconductor shortage has led to a rush by major semiconductor companies to build new wafer fabrication facilities. To ensure that planned resource investment will achieve target production, there is a growing need for a next-generation capacity planning system that can provide an optimal solution while allowing for faster and more accurate calculations.
The paper presents a simulation-based capacity planning system that supports four levels of capacity planning problems: Area-level, Fab-level with Quarter and Year planning.
